J1 SWork and Travel Requirements

This program is for full time college/university students, studying for a minimum of 2 years Associate or Masters degree program doing at least 12 credits per semester. Must provide transcript.

To become a lifeguard program participant you must be able to swim to pass the Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certification Program. For more information on the lifeguard course pre-requisites please click Here. 

Our program is held during Summer break. In order to be accepted you must commit to working in the United States from May until September. 

Since this program is currently only offered to students, you must be between the ages of 18-28 years. Below are the registration documents:

• Resume - typed in English with photo
• Passport - with at least 6 months validity from program end date
• Status Letter or Official Transcript (from current school)
• Criminal Background Check (Police Record)

This programme allows eligible applicants to live and work in the USA for 3- 12 months, you must be between the ages of 19-40 years.

• Intern -  for persons who are currently enrolled or have graduated from  university (not exceeding 12 months) required Course of study; Culinary, Food and Beverage or Front Desk. 
• Trainee - for persons with a degree and 12 months of directly related experience or no university degree and 5 years work experience in Culinary, Front Desk or Food and Beverage.

The purpose of the internship/trainee programme is to provide international participants, the opportunity to enhance their professional skills and expertise in their academic or occupational fields, where they can share experiences with your fellow countrymen upon returning home. 

In addition to working and traveling, this program offers a Cultural Exchange. Not only will you learn more about the US culture, you will get the chance to live and work with students from many other cultures. You may be required to participate in different cultural exchange activities.
